Preparing electrical plans and diagrams
During an electrical inspection, the approved inspection body should be provided with three documents about your home’s installation: the single-line diagram, the layout diagram and the meter’s EAN code.

Single-line diagram
This first representation provides an overview of the electrical installation with a single connecting line. It is made up of different symbols that describe the organisation of the circuits and their interconnections. These diagrams are particularly useful in case of an extension or modification of the electricity in your home, and also to detect breakdowns.

Layout diagram
This diagram shows the location of the different components described in the single-line diagram. It mainly shows the position of:
- Panels
- Connection boxes
- Junction boxes
- Power outlets
- Light fixtures
- Switches
- Appliances

EAN identification code
The EAN code has 18 digits starting with 54144 used to identify your electricity meter, a number that also appears on your energy bill. If you move into a new building, the building owner can provide you with the number or if you buy a house, the previous owner will have it. When installing a new meter, Sibelga can provide you with the right number. If you still cannot find it, you can always use the online form provided by the distribution network operator.

Where can you find your electrical diagrams?
If your installation was done after 1st October 1981, your installer at that time had to provide you with sketches of the electrical system. If you do not have the electrical plan of your house or if the circuit was installed in full or in part after that date, we can handle this task.
We will send one of our technicians to your home, so that they can identify all of the existing circuits and draw up a sketch. Then, our drafter will use computer software to prepare the single-line diagram and layout diagram. All you have to do then is submit these documents to the inspector from the approved inspection body.
